First startup labs for Vienna Life Science Area
72 flexible lab workplaces complete the infrastructure for research enterprises.
The Life Sciences location of Vienna is internationally recognized and is steadily growing: 480 companies and organizations generate about ten milliard Euros annually.
In the Vienna Biocenter in Neu Marx, the Vienna Business Agency is now starting on the building of new workplaces with shared facilities in over 1,000 square meters and is thus completing the comprehensive offer for the industry. In total there will be 72 flexible workplaces and 32 office workplaces for young scientists and researchers. The goal is to facilitate young companies with their economic start through a jointly used infrastructure. Boehringer Ingelheim functions as the main sponsor.
The startup labs in the Vienna Biocenter will be ready for occupancy from 2019 and will be rented as flexible “co-working labs” as part of a dynamic startup scene. More companies could divide the workspaces in up to six or twelve workplaces. The labs serve as an additional – but important – step in the further development of medicine technology and pharmaceutical analysis in Vienna.
