Smart Production
Smart production means the progressive networking of production environments and all associate components in Industry 4.0. Industrial production is thus interlinked with modern information and communications technologies. Companies can thereby proceed more proactively and more efficiently and optimize their value creation.
At this time, approximately 8,500 companies in production sectors are located in Vienna and employ more than 135,000 people. In total, the producing companies generate around 18 percent of the value creation in Viennawith around 12.3 billion Euros.
In the areas of innovative production technologies, process technology, and machine construction, producing companies have access to comprehensive advising and support. The Vienna Business Agency also acts as a platform and a hub for the numerous initiatives that are active in these areas in this location.
A central component on the topic of smart production is the pilot factory for industry 4.0 of the TU in the coastal city technology center. Its goal is to further strengthen the collaboration between economy and science in the location.
